Benefits of VeneersWhat are Veneers?Veneers are designed to restore the beauty to your smile. They are thin “shells” that cover over the fronts of teeth visible when you smile. Veneers require that a small amount of your enamel be removed so that they fit perfectly in with the rest of your smile, and they are bonded securely in place. Simple ProcedureThe procedure for veneers is simple and straightforward. In just two visits, your smile can be restored. During your first visit, your teeth are prepared, and molds are taken of your mouth. The molds are then sent to our lab, where your custom veneers are fabricated. Once ready, you return for your second visit, where the veneers are checked for fit and cemented into place with dental cement. Minimal Tooth PreparationVeneers require only a small amount of enamel to be removed. In doing so, the veneers will sit naturally, and comfortably, in line with the rest of your teeth. Veneers are a much more conservative restorative option than crowns, which require a significant portion of your enamel be removed. With crowns, a temporary restoration is placed to protect the tooth from infection while your permanent restoration is being made. In most instances, a temporary veneer is not necessary, although one can be provided for aesthetics. Cover a Myriad of ImperfectionsVeneers can be used to cover several different types of imperfections:
Porcelain Veneers are Durable and Stain ResistantVeneers can be made from composite resin or porcelain. Porcelain exceeds composite resin in many categories. First, it is more durable than composite resin (which is highly susceptible to damage). Properly cared for, porcelain veneers can last 15 to 30 years or more. Secondly, porcelain is stain resistant. This means you can enjoy a beautiful white smile without worry for new discoloration. Easy to Care ForVeneers are easy to care for. They can, and should, be brushed just like your natural teeth. Even though veneers cannot experience decay, they can still build up plaque and bacteria that can contribute to gum disease. Brushing twice a day, flossing daily, and twice annual professional cleanings and exams will help to keep your mouth, and your veneers, happy and healthy. Beautiful, Natural ResultsPorcelain can be polished and finished to perfectly match the color and shine of your natural teeth. The result is a beautiful, natural smile that others won’t be able to help but notice! If you have minor imperfections in your teeth, veneers may be able to help.
